Relative time
The binding narrative behind Shelly’s composition and music on his debut album “Relative Time” is a perspective through which the components that make a musical piece, serves as a puzzle that can be put together in more than one way to compose a new “auditory image”.
Melody, rhythm, time and harmony are all elastic materials that can be used freely without any preconceptions of what is right and wrong. As a composer, arranger and pianist, Shelly draws his influences and inspiration both from the Jazz legends that molded the genre in the 20th century and contemporary artists that constantly redefine what Jazz is today and what it might be in the future.
